2012 Canadian Masters Curling Championships …
A big time Event!
The Canadian Masters Curling Championships showcase provincial champions, men and women 60 years old and over, from all parts of Canada. Local, regional and provincial championships lead to the final team selections. Growing rapidly in popularity and prestige, the Event now attracts more than Twenty-four (24) teams, twelve (12) men's and twelve (12) women's, who will compete for the National title.
With their inauguration in 1987 comprising only of four (4) western teams, the true Canadian Masters Curling Championships have been held yearly since 1999 in each Canadian province. This year, for the first time, this elite Event will be organized in the ‘’belle province’’ of Quebec. The Boucherville and St.-Lambert Curling Clubs are proud to host the 2012 Championships, which will take place from March 26 through April 1st, 2012. An organizing committee has been working hard for some time now and this event's success is guaranteed by our volunteer energy and dedication.
In 2011, the women's title was won by members of the Joyce McDougall team out of the Brandon Curling Club in Manitoba. The Garry Gelowitz men's rink from B.C.'s Kelowna Curling Club also tasted the champion's champagne. It should also be noted that in 2003, Dave Moon and his Pointe-Claire team were Quebec’s only winning representative.
This is a great opportunity for fans to watch very high level championship curling. On site, the two organizing curling clubs can greet thousands of spectators but thanks to the internet, curling fans from everywhere in Canada will be able to follow the real-time results and even interact with their favorite teams..
Masters curlers are true legends of the game and serve as wonderful role models, both to their own generation and younger curlers, demonstrating how an active lifestyle can be beneficial to our aging population.
Take part in our venture and help make this event a hit for all our Canadian visitors. |
